Hair Color

Red

by Jillian Wilkey on August 6, 2010

I must admit, that I am partial to red hair. In honor of the hue, here is a list of my top 10 favorite redheads:

10. Ginger Spice

I was never huge on the Spice Girls train, but Ginger Spice packs a lot of girl power! Perhaps it was Geri Halliwell that pioneered the redhead image as the Gingers, and if so, that is fine with me!

9. Maude Lebowski (Julianne Moore)

Paying homage to one of my favorite films, Maude Lebowski perfects the red hair and the Viking helmet. In the film she portrays a feminist and avant-garde artist. She also portrays awesomeness.

8. Agent Scully (Gillian Anderson)

In addition to being the coolest special agent, she has a fantastic name in real life… Plus, she gets to be partners with Fox Mulder! Swoon!

7. Conan O’Brien

Nod to the gentlemen with red hair- Conan! In recent events, there have been a lot of drama stirred up around this one and a fellow late night host, but throughout it all, he has maintained the coolest coif.

6. Lucille Ball

I think Lucy comes to mind for most when thinking of famous redheads and rightly so. Still to this day “I Love Lucy” reigns as one of the greatest shows on television.

5. Jenny Lewis

With bands like Jenny & Johnny, Rilo Kiley and a solo career in her repertoire- she nearly takes the cake! And let us not forget “Troop Beverly Hills”!

4. Rita Hayworth

I’m a huge old-Hollywood-glamour fan. Rita Hayworth is perfection. If I could only work Gilda-style floor length dresses and opera gloves into my everyday wardrobe…

3. Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks)

My favorite sassy lady on one of the best series today, Mad Men! Joan’s character is fiery, unpredictable and bold- she is the ultimate femme fatale.

2. Ariel, The Little Mermaid

There have been a few occasions when little girls tell their moms in the salon that I look like Ariel. Well, little darlings, I will take that as the best compliment EVER! Who doesn’t want to be Princess Ariel?

1. Poison Ivy of The Cramps

Perhaps an unconventional number 1; Poison Ivy is my hero. She oozes cool.

Bye, Bye Black.

by Laurie Davis on January 23, 2010

It’s quite often that I encounter clients that have colored their hair black in the past and now regret doing so. I myself, have been included in this category many, MANY times.

Today I had the pleasure to meet a new client with this exact problem. In fact, she had gone to other salons previously asking to get some of the black color removed from her hair, but was always turned away. Claiming that it “could not be done” and that “you’ll have to just wait for it to grow it”. Now these types of people are always my favorite. I love showing them that it CAN be done, and that it can look gorgeous!

Check it out yourself:
