At the De Young museum in San Francisco right now, there is a special exhibition being shown- Birth of Impressionism, Masterpieces from the Musee D’Orsay. I went today to see the show and was very impressed. It always blows me away when thinking about how old the work is and the energy and talent put into these paintings.
William Bouguereau's "Birth of Venus"
This was the first painting you see as you enter the exhibit and in my opinion, one of the showstoppers. 118 x 85 3/4 in, this painting was larger than life and beautifully painted. There were also paintings by Manet, Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh, and many more artists that were very inspirational to the beginning of impressionism. Definitely worth a trip to the city! And while you’re there, check out the De Young’s sister museum, the Legion of Honor.
My cousin Stacy’s wedding was this past weekend and I was very happy to do her hair for the big event. I knew that most importantly her hair had to stay in place, that I couldn’t let one curl fall! Gathering up tools was easy, curling iron for curling, pins, and a couple Kevin Murphy products that could handle the job. Full on Protection, a heat protectant that protects hair up to 450 degrees while giving texture and intense hold- was what I used before curling. Session Spray was the finishing touch- a workable hairspray that Kevin himself uses on cover shoots, when its most important for the models’ hair to stay put.
Between these two products, Stacy was able to dance the night away (and have a very special day with her new husband) with her hair staying perfect!
