Birth of Impressionism

by Alex Silverman on August 31, 2010

At the De Young museum in San Francisco right now, there is a special exhibition being shown- Birth of Impressionism, Masterpieces from the Musee D’Orsay. I went today to see the show and was very impressed. It always blows me away when thinking about how old the work is and the energy and talent put into these paintings.

William Bouguereau's "Birth of Venus"

This was the first painting you see as you enter the exhibit and in my opinion, one of the showstoppers. 118 x 85 3/4 in, this painting was larger than life and beautifully painted. There were also paintings by Manet, Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh, and many more artists that were very inspirational to the beginning of impressionism. Definitely worth a trip to the city! And while you’re there, check out the De Young’s sister museum, the Legion of Honor.

I have a fantastic red tan after a beautiful relaxing and perfect weekend at the beach! I exfoliated my entire body with the sand and sun bathed most of the time. I also hit the waves on my boogie board and broke a nail when I wiped out!!!  Time for some therapy! lol =) Then after the big beach day my best friend and I took my two year old son on the Log Ride at the boardwalk! He didn’t panic but infact said he wanted to go again after he saw his picture with his scared little face coming down the big drop!!

I just can’t get enough of the Lilikoi Mimosa, which they have flown in  from Hawaii. My other favorite is their cranberry-lime Mimosa. They also have [...]
